Preparing for the "Queen"
Mrs. Bednar's class got to hear the story, How Big is a Foot.
Then they did a math lesson on nonstandard measurement. Each group had an envelope with different sized feet cutouts. They had to make a bed for the queen four feet wide by 6 feet long. Then they decorated the beds and the queen arrived to see which bed she could fit in. They had a great time with the activity and saw the importance of why we need to have a standard unit of measurement.
